Wedding Planning Challenges

When Tom proposed to me on a moonlit beach in Cyprus, I was swept off my feet. In the following weeks, I realised how much work would be needed if I was going to have the wedding of my dreams like my cousin Lynn’s last summer, which was so perfectly captured by photography….

An Endless List of Things to Do

Good planning was going to be the key to success. Realising I didn’t know where to start, I searched for a good wedding checklist and www.onefabday.com/uk/wedding-checklist/ provided the perfect one. Working to a budget has limitations, and we carefully chose the venue, wedding dress and honeymoon – our hearts were set on returning to Cyprus.

Creating Special Memories…

Having booked our local church and pub and incorporated some quirky ideas to make our wedding special, next on the list was a good photographer. My cousin Lynn had married in the New Forest, and her photographer had been great as he had a good eye for capturing moments in a creative way – the results had been stunning.

A telephone call later, I had the photographer’s details. The problem was that we were getting married in Dorset, but reading their website, I discovered that Sam is happy to travel anywhere in the UK – perfect! All I had to do was organise transport for everyone to get there ready for the day with someone like a Dorset Coach Hire company at links including  turnerscoaches.co.uk.

The Soaring Costs of Weddings

I soon had a lovely vintage dress and bridesmaids’ dresses, had chosen my flowers and embarked on my beauty programme. One evening, Tom and I went through the wedding costs and, to our horror, found that they were much higher than we thought they were going to be. What to do? I remembered that in Cyprus we had met a couple who had married there, and they had said how reasonably priced it was. I decided to investigate further on the website.

And a Lovely Happy Ending

Now we are getting married on a sandy beach in Limassol surrounded by family and friends. Sadly, I realised that we’d have to cancel our chosen photographer and the transport.

It was with a heavy heart that I telephoned Sam – only to be reminded of something I had read on the website: he enjoys covering weddings anywhere in England and beyond, so guess who is travelling to Cyprus in May?
